This morning, as I took my dogs for a walk, I spied numerous signs that spring is well and truly here. It's plain that my herbs have shaken off their winter dormancy. The garlic chives I clipped to the ground last week have grown several inches. Nearby, the silver sage has produced the beginnings of flower stalks. My Bouncing Bet, aka soapwort, has once again emerged from the ground in a new and exciting location.
Light green tips of new growth are everywhere, reminding me it's high time for me to make my spring garden task list. No matter how diligent a gardener is there is always something needing to be clipped, removed, or transplanted in spring. Here's a few items on my list for 2008:
- Pull back my agressive hoja santa to a managable clump.
- Create a cluster of large pots where a tree was removed last year.
- Move my blanketflowers to a place where we can enjoy them more.
- Trim the bay tree before my husband starts threatening to take a chainsaw to it.
- Divide the garden thyme along the walkway to fill in the bare spots.

So what about you? Got a list of spring garden chores to do?
